Residential Opportunities

Trustwide Annual Residential Trip to St.Omer, France

As part of the Trust's residential offer, we manage and administer, on behalf of our schools, an annual summer residential to St. Omer on the Opal Coast in France, attended by our Year 5 & 6 pupils.

The children stay at the beautiful Chateau d'Ebblingham, just 45 minutes from the Channel ports, surrounding by 4 hectares of lush green countryside.  The Chateau is a dedicated NST Travel Group centre, specifically renovated to provide a high standard of accommodation with four separate buildings each designed to accommodate pupil and teachers.

Facilities include:-

  • Two football pitches (one floodlit)
  • Volleyball area
  • A communal games building with pool tables and air hockey
  • Confectionary and gift shop
  • TV, DVD player and white board available in each building
  • Full box of sports equipment

The visit will be an enriching cultural adventure for the pupils where they will be able to practice their French in an authentic environment! The children will explore St Omer, the cathedral, the local markets and shops as well as enjoying a programme of activities at the Chateau in the evening, including:-

  • Outdoor activities during the summer months
  • Talent shows, Games shows, Quizzes and Disco's
  • Team challenges and Initiative exercises

The children are immersed in French culture and attend the local school during the mornings, with cultural activities in the afternoons.

The Consortium Multi Academy Trust offers our schools the opportunity for every child from Year 1 to Year 6 to attend a residential activity, every academic year.

For younger pupils, this may just be a whole day trip, gradually progressing to residentials of a few nights for older pupils.

Residential opportunities are designed to compliment and support the curriculum. The Trust believes that these opportunities reinforce classroom teaching through an enriched experience, which enables pupils to embrace and explore classroom learning in a natural environment.

As the Trust coordinates trips centrally, we are able to negotiate greater discounts for our schools with residential activity centres.
